Video SEO for Yoast – Error loading stylesheet: A network error occurred loading an XSLT stylesheet:
I just installed the Video SEO by Yoast plugin on this very site and received the following error when trying to view the Video XML.
Error loading stylesheet: A network error occurred loading an XSLT stylesheet: /video-sitemap.xsl
I looked through my installed plugins to see if there was anything installed that could be conflicting. I found the Google XML Sitemap for Videos plugin installed. I deleted it, then reinstalled the Video SEO for Yoast plugin. Unfortunately the reinstall did not fix the issue.
I then opened my FTP client and started looking around on the sever to see if the video-sitemap.xsl file being referenced even existed. I couldn’t find it. The file must not have been installed when the plugin was activated. My guess is, the security plugin stopped the installation of a file into the root of the server.
My next thought was, if I could get my hands on an original Yoast video-sitemap.xsl file, I may be able to upload it to the root my web directory. If the file is just missing, this may fix the issue.
Wouldn’t you know, I ran across this article written by Yoast that goes over XSL stylesheets and XML sitemaps. The download provided on his page includes an original Yoast video-sitemap.xsl file. Hells Ya!
I simply took the xml-video-sitemap.xsl file and renamed it to video-sitemap.xsl. I then used my FTP client and uploaded the newly renamed .xsl file to the root of my website. I refreshed my video sitemap page..
Boom, that fixed it!
Let me know if this worked for you. In researching this error, I came across multiple forums that indicted some users are having trouble with the standard WordPress SEO by Yoast XML file. The above fix will work on either the sitemap.xsl or video-sitemap.xsl error.
